RJV awarded civil works package for WA’s new film studios

5 March, 2024

RJV has been awarded the civil works package for the new WA film studios by one of Australia’s largest private construction groups, Built.

Located in Malaga on a publicly owned greenfield site just off the southern edge of Whiteman Park the development will become WA’s first dedicated screen production facility, set to accelerate growth of WA’s local arts and creative industries. In close proximity to the new Malaga railway station currently under construction, the studios will be easily accessible for students, creatives and those employed within WA’s artistic sectors.

The government-backed $100 million Hollywood-style film studios will be fully equipped with four purpose-built sound stages, construction workshops, a backlot, production offices and other amenities to produce a range of screen productions including film and television, making it world-class. The project is also set to be highly sustainable, with water tanks and solar panels to be fitted directly to the facility.

Works, which will include earthworks, underground services and roadworks, are now underway with an estimated 2025 completion.
