Installing telematics for fleet optimisation
One of the objectives of our sustainability strategy is to invest in fleet management tools, systems and analytics to monitor fleet usage.
In line with this we have partnered with Teletrac Navman, which provides cloud-based GPS fleet tracking software, to implement telematics to our fleet of over 225 heavy assets.
Telematics is the term for the technology used to monitor a range of information relating to an individual vehicle or an entire fleet.
Our telematics system will gather data such as vehicle location, driver behaviour, engine diagnostics and vehicle activity, and will visualise this data on a digital dashboard to help us optimise our fleet’s usage, performance and safety.
The data is temporarily stored in a telematics device installed in each vehicle. The data is then transmitted over private cellular networks to secure servers and into the central dashboard.
The technology will enable us to better manage and monitor the utilisation of our assets, minimise idle times to reduce fuel use and emissions, and detect any unsafe practices to improve safety for all our operators.
The data will also assist to minimise costs for our clients by running a safer and more efficient fleet and will ultimately support the bigger transition of Perth and WA to a smarter, more sustainable city and state.
