From site engineer to senior project manager

1 August, 2022

RJV Senior Project Manager Chris Beggan’s 10 year journey with RJV is a great example of a career going from strength to strength within our business.

Chris, originally from Ireland, started with RJV in late 2011 as a Site Engineer working at projects such as Latitude 32, Mason Road, Donaldson Road and various others.

In 2012 he was promoted to Project Engineer continuing work at Latitude 32, in addition to the Bertram Rd duplication, and Wellard and Amberton projects.

“Chris’s attention to detail and ability to adapt to changing conditions has been an asset to the road upgrade projects he has been involved in, for instance at Bertram Road and Pinjar Road,” says RJV Construction Manager Greg Golding.

“With the different sections of the works requiring differing methodologies for construction, the traffic management process is continually changing – from stop-go single lane restrictions to roadside lane-narrowing to full detours – and Chris’s tenacity has been a factor in the successful delivery of these projects.”

Greg says Chris’s eagerness to learn and willingness to go the extra yards earned him the promotion to project engineer which has been followed by further promotions to project manager and senior project manager.

“It makes it easier too with him being an all-round good bloke!” he says.

In 2017, in his new project manager role, Chris worked on major projects such as the Midland Sales Yard and the Yanchep Rail Extension, which he says have been two of his favourite jobs.

Last year, Chris received another promotion to Senior Project Manager and now works on the high profile Subiaco East redevelopment projects in addition to the Yanchep City Centre, Marmion Avenue extension and Catalina projects.

Chris says the variety of work, the close-knit team and the culture of supporting the next generation to learn and grow within the company are qualities of a great company to work for.

“It’s great to see that the process of promoting from within keeps going too,” he says.

“It happened with me, and you can see the process happening again with the new generation of site engineers coming through.

“When you look at our senior leadership team, most have come from site.”
