909 (former Princess Margaret Hospital Site)
Overview
RJV has been awarded the contract by DevelopmentWA for civils and landscaping at the former Princess Margaret Hospital (PMH) site, now known as ‘1909’.
The contract follows our successful completion in 2023 of the demolition and remediation of the PMH site as DevelopmentWA continues to transform the former specialist children’s hospital into a vibrant inner-city village.
Detail
The scope of works includes all services and road networks for the six lots, development of green spaces, a public plaza and the next phases of the historic boiler house renovation and restoration, with the careful protection of two significant heritage landmarks onsite, being the Old Outpatients Building and Godfrey House. The landmark boiler house and chimney stack were carefully preserved during the remediation process to become a public art commission and the centrepiece of the development.
Our teams will install all high spec hard and soft landscaping works, public water features and water play structures, play structure, arbour shelters, public pavilion structure, various feature retaining walls and public open space lighting systems.
Once complete, 1909 will provide a new inner-city community-focused residential precinct, forming part of the Subi East project, one of the State’s most significant urban redevelopment projects. Up to 1,000 new dwellings will be delivered across six apartment sites, which will help rejuvenate and revitalise Subiaco, driving increased visitation and economic growth to businesses in the area.
