Our history

Founded in 1955, RJV has a long history of delivering civil and mining projects across WA, including some of the state’s most iconic urban renewal developments.

2023

The company wins the Civil Contractors Federation WA Earth Award for projects valued from $10 – $30 million for its work on the Princess Margaret Hospital.

Works at the East Perth Power Station are completed, successfully meeting heritage protection and sustainability targets.

The company launches its sustainability strategy, accompanied by four complementary strategies designed to meet a range of ESG objectives.

2022

RJV acquires civil contracting business Buckby Contracting and commences a major mining earthworks contract at a Pilbara gold mine. The company adds a record number of new heavy plant to its fleet. Our first sustainability report is released.

2021

RJV continues its presence at the iconic Subiaco East Redevelopment Project with the award of the Stage 1 Civils Works. The mining division commences earthworks at the Telfer gold mine.

RJV launches its inaugural sustainability strategy.

2020

RJV is awarded the demolition and renewal of the Princess Margaret Hospital site

The company wins the Civil Contractors Federation WA Earth Award for projects valued from $10 – $30 million for its work on the Subiaco Oval demolition and rehabilitation.

2019

General Manager Tim Ryan is appointed to CEO and John Vincent transitions to Chairman.

RJV is awarded WA’s largest demolition and renewal project – Subiaco Oval.

2018

RJV acquires Reilly Contractors and establishes its new Balcatta office.

2012

The company wins the Civil Contractors Federation WA Earth Award for projects valued from $5 – $20 million for the Butler Rail Extension – Civil Works.

2006

RJV commences works at Port Coogee – an iconic marine infrastructure project.

2005

RJV celebrates 50 years of operation and becomes known simply as RJV.

2002

RJ Vincent & Co is awarded the contract for the Exmouth Marina Village.

2000

The company wins the staged works for WA’s first residential canal development at Port Geographe, Busselton.

1990s

RJ Vincent & Co wins its largest project to date – the provision of earthmoving, subdivision, road layout, utilities, paving and landscaping for the satellite city of Joondalup.

John Vincent takes full ownership of RJ Vincent & Co and is appointed Managing Director following his father Ron Vincent’s retirement.

1980s

John Vincent is appointed as a Director.

The company is awarded two major road construction projects, the construction of the highway between Brookton and Pingelly south-east of Perth and the comprehensive upgrade of Grand Promenade in the City of Bayswater.

The workshop is moved from Bayswater to a larger premises in Balcatta.

1970s

John Vincent, current chairman and son of founder Ron Vincent, joins the family business. His first project is the standard gauge project in Merredin, part of the railway extension.

The company is also awarded an earthmoving/construction contract in Rockingham, building subdivisions and road networks including major arterial routes from Rockingham to Safety Bay and Warnbro.

1960s

The company opens its first depot in Bayswater to house the growing fleet and dozen strong workforce.

RJ Vincent & Co wins contracts to complete earthworks for all new stations between Southern Cross and Kellerberrin as part of the railway extension from west of Kalgoorlie to Perth, and the earthworks contract for the construction of Merredin’s wheat silo, the largest of its kind in WA at the time.

1955

RJ Vincent & Co is founded by Ron Vincent to provide bulldozing services in regional Western Australia. The first Caterpillar D7 Dozer is purchased, marking the beginning of RJV’s affinity with the brand that continues today.
